Handy Board FAQ Answers: “blacksq”
When I turn on the Handy Board, all I see is a row of black squares on the top line of the LCD screen.
Usually, all this means is that the Handy Board's battery has run down, and the board has lost its RAM-resident “pcode” program.
The solution is to run one of the standard downloaders, putting the pcode_hb.s19 program back into the Handy Board.
If the row of black squares is very dark (essentially, full on contrast), this usually indicates a power problem with the Handy Board. Check if any of the components is getting warm or hot to the touch, and look for stray leads or other evidence of a short.
