How to Get a Handy Board

Authorized Vendors

Authorized vendors are required to maintain stock of their products for immediate delivery, and establish and maintain an exemplary customer service record.

Here is the current authorized Handy Board vendor list:

  • Gleason Research, an authorized supplier of assembled/tested Handy Board systems and sensor/motor kits.

  • Patrick Hui/The Robot Store, based in Hong Kong, offers Handy Board kits and assembled systems.

  • Active Robots is an authorized supplier of Handy Board systems in the U.K.

  • robot-Oz is an authorized supplier of Handy Board systems and kits located in Australia.

  • Douglas Electronics is an authorized supplier of blank Handy Board printed circuit boards and Expansion Board blank boards and full kits.

  • Acroname Electronics is an authorized distributor of unassembled Handy Board kits.

I request vendors to provide me with sample copy of their manufactured Handy Board for review:

  • Gleason Research's Handy Boards use all recommended components. Handy Boards are high quality with excellent assembly technique.

  • Patrick Hui/The Robot Store's Handy Boards are high quality with good assembly technique.

When comparing prices, keep in mind that Hui's Handy Board base system does not include the following, which he instead offers as extras: nicad batteries ($20), underneath-the-board battery case ($5), or DC adapter ($5).

  • Active Robots re-sells Patrick Hui's components and systems.

  • robot-Oz re-sells Patrick Hui's components and systems.

  • Douglas Electronics produces high-quality PCBs.

  • Acroname Electronics kits are of excellent quality.

Please contact Fred Martin regarding any criticism or praise of the authorized vendors’ service. Thank you.
